Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter (2 sticks, softened)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup sourdough discard
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 ounce)
  • 2½ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the sourdough discard and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and instant chocolate pudding mix.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing well.
  6. Slowly stir in the all-purpose flour until combined.
  7. Finally, fold in the dark chocolate chips.
  8. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for easy mixing. You can add more chocolate chips if preferred. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
