A delightful bread combining the comforting texture of homemade bread with the rich sweetness of condensed milk, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- ⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 egg yolk (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, condensed milk, egg, and softened butter. Stir until combined, then knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the Dough: Once risen, punch down the dough to release the gas, then shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan and let it rest for another 15-20 minutes.
- Apply Egg Wash & Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the top with egg wash and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool & Serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
