Description
A handheld-free smash burger reimagined in a hearty bowl: crisp air-fried potatoes, seared ground beef, sweet caramelized onions, and a tangy Cajun sauce. No bun, no mess—just bold flavor and satisfying textures.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (85% lean, halal or air-chilled turkey optional)
1 lb red potatoes, diced
1½ cups shredded cheddar or Colby Jack cheese
1 cup chopped lettuce or mixed greens
1 small onion, diced
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp Cajun seasoning (spice mix of paprika, garlic, cayenne)
1 tsp white vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C)
Toss potatoes with 1 tbsp olive oil, salt, and pepper. Air-fry 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway
Heat remaining olive oil in a skillet over medium-high. Add onion, salt, and ¼ tsp sugar; cook 6–8 minutes until golden and caramelized
Pat ground beef into 4 thin patties. Cook in same skillet 2–3 minutes per side until browned and juicy; season with salt and pepper
Whisk mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Cajun seasoning, and vinegar to make sauce
Assemble bowels: layer lettuce, warm potatoes, beef patty, cheese, and caramelized onions; top with sauce
Notes
Use halal beef or replace with air-chilled turkey for a lighter option
Sweet potatoes or zucchini rounds substitute for red potatoes for different textures
Try Monterey Jack or Gouda if preferred
Pre-mixed Cajun seasoning or paprika + garlic powder works as substitute
Store leftover sauce in the fridge for up to 3 days
