Ingredients
- 1½ cups unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Purple gel food coloring
- Black gel food coloring
- Purple sprinkles
- ½ cup black or chocolate sprinkles
Instructions
- Begin by beating the room temperature butter and powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Next, add in the eggs and milk, mixing everything until it comes together smoothly.
- In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture along with the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Once your dough is ready, divide it into three portions and tint one half with purple gel food coloring.
- Roll out the black dough into a rectangle measuring approximately 6×12 inches.
- Roll out the white dough and gently place it on top of the black dough.
- Roll the purple dough out to the same size as the black and white layers and sprinkle with purple sprinkles.
- Carefully roll the purple dough into a log, encasing the black and white dough inside.
- Wrap it in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
- After chilling, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the log into cookies and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
Notes
Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for a smoother dough. Use a sharp knife for cutting even slices.
