Description

A delightful twist on the classic cookie, these Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies have a rich, nutty flavor that elevates them to a new level of deliciousness.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks, browned)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Begin by browning the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 5-7 minutes until it turns a deep golden brown and smells nutty.
  2. Pour the brown butter into a large bowl and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Add the packed brown sugar and granulated sugar to the cooled butter. Beat until combined and creamy.
  4. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and beat until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined; do not overmix.
  7. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  9. Scoop the dough into heaping tablespoons and drop onto the baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between each cookie.
  10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and centers are slightly underdone.
  11. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are best served warm with milk or coffee. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 5-7 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
