Description
Delightful soft dough filled with creamy cheesecake and warm spiced apples, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
- 400 g (4 cups) All-purpose flour
- 200 ml (1 cup) Whole milk, warmed
- 1 Large egg
- 65 g Unsalted butter (softened)
- 10 g Instant yeast
- 60 g (3 tbsp) Granulated sugar
- 1 packet (8 g) Vanilla sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 200 g Cream cheese
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 1 packet Vanilla sugar
- 2 Apples (peeled and diced)
- 2 tbsp Brown sugar
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Cornstarch mixed with 1/2 cup water
- 20 g (1 tbsp) Cold butter
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 1 cup Powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 1 Egg yolk
Instructions
- Mix together all the dough ingredients until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for about 60 minutes.
- Sauté the diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon until soft. Add cornstarch-water slurry and stir until thick. Allow to cool.
- Whisk together cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla sugar until smooth.
- Divide the risen dough into 9 equal pieces and let rest for 15 minutes.
- Press the center of each dough ball with a floured glass to make a deep well.
- Brush the edges of each well with egg yolk and fill with cheesecake mixture and apple filling.
- Rub together cold butter, sugar, and flour for the crumble topping. Sprinkle over filled buns.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before drizzling with powdered sugar glaze.
