Description

Delightful soft dough filled with creamy cheesecake and warm spiced apples, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 400 g (4 cups) All-purpose flour
  • 200 ml (1 cup) Whole milk, warmed
  • 1 Large egg
  • 65 g Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 10 g Instant yeast
  • 60 g (3 tbsp) Granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (8 g) Vanilla sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 200 g Cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 2 Apples (peeled and diced)
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch mixed with 1/2 cup water
  • 20 g (1 tbsp) Cold butter
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 1 Egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Mix together all the dough ingredients until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for about 60 minutes.
  2. Sauté the diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon until soft. Add cornstarch-water slurry and stir until thick. Allow to cool.
  3. Whisk together cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla sugar until smooth.
  4. Divide the risen dough into 9 equal pieces and let rest for 15 minutes.
  5. Press the center of each dough ball with a floured glass to make a deep well.
  6. Brush the edges of each well with egg yolk and fill with cheesecake mixture and apple filling.
  7. Rub together cold butter, sugar, and flour for the crumble topping. Sprinkle over filled buns.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly before drizzling with powdered sugar glaze.

Notes

Ensure your dough rises in a warm, draft-free environment for optimal fluffiness. Cool the apple filling completely before assembling to prevent sogginess.
