A delightful chocolate Yule Log Cake that brings festive spirit to your holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate ganache or frosting for decoration
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a jelly roll pan and line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then fold into the egg mixture.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until it springs back when touched.
- Once cooled, turn the cake out onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.
- Roll the cake with the towel, starting from one short end, and let it cool completely.
- Meanwhile, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Carefully unroll the cooled cake and spread whipped cream over it, then re-roll the cake without the towel.
- Frost the outside of the cake with chocolate ganache or frosting.
- Decorate as desired and serve. Enjoy your festive Yule Log Cake!
Notes
Make sure your eggs are at room temperature for better mixing. Use a clean kitchen towel for rolling the cake.
