Description
A festive rolled cake resembling a log, filled with whipped cream and frosted with chocolate ganache, perfect for holiday celebrations.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate ganache (for frosting)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat eggs and granulated sugar until thick and pale.
- Sift together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold into the egg mixture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Prepare a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.
- Once the cake is done, invert it onto the towel and carefully peel off the parchment paper.
- Roll the cake tightly with the towel and let it cool.
- In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Unroll the cooled cake and spread the whipped cream filling over it. Roll the cake back up without the towel.
- Frost the rolled cake with chocolate ganache and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Make sure your eggs and sugar are well beaten for a light texture. Customize the filling with flavors like peppermint or orange zest for a twist.
