Description

A quick and easy Teriyaki Chicken dish bursting with sweet and savory flavors, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch, mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, water, ginger, and garlic. Stir until well combined.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add vegetable oil. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Pour teriyaki sauce over the chicken and stir to coat.
  4. Reduce heat to low, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry, add to skillet, stirring until sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot alongside rice or noodles.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate chicken in teriyaki sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Can be made with shrimp, tofu, or firm vegetables for variety.
