A quick and flavorful dish featuring succulent shrimp marinated in a sweet and spicy gochujang sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled & deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey (or brown sugar)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Steamed rice (for serving)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2–3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are fully cooked. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the gochujang, soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), and rice vinegar. Let this mixture simmer until it starts to thicken slightly.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing them in the sauce until they’re evenly coated.
- Serve the Sweet & Spicy Gochujang Shrimp over a bed of steamed rice, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Notes
For best texture, avoid overcooking the shrimp and consider marinating ahead of time for enhanced flavor.
