Description

A hearty slow-cooked beef goulash that embodies comfort and warmth, perfect for family gatherings or chilly evenings.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 carrots, sliced (optional)
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef cubes and sear them until browned on all sides. Remove the beef and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and cook until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Incorporate the tomato paste into the onion and garlic mixture. Cook for about two minutes, then transfer this mixture to a slow cooker.
  4. Add the seared beef back into the slow cooker. Pour in the beef broth and stir in the paprika, marjoram, salt, and pepper.
  5. If desired, add sliced carrots and chopped bell pepper to enhance the flavor and nutrition.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shreds.
  7. Once ready, serve your warm goulash with crusty bread or over egg noodles.

Notes

Opt for beef chuck for the best texture. Fresh ingredients enhance flavor. Adjust spice levels to taste.
