Description

Creamy and comforting scalloped potatoes layered with cheese, perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the cream, milk, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour half of this mixture over the potatoes.
  5. Sprinkle half of the cheese over the mixture.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best texture, use Russets or Yukon Gold potatoes. Customize with different cheeses or add sautéed onions for extra flavor.
