Description

Savory French Onion Soup Bites bring classic flavors into a fun, bite-sized appetizer, perfect for cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter (or vegan option)
  • 1 cup beef broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian option)
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or Italian seasoning)
  • 1 package crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese (or any melting cheese)

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions.
  2. Cook the onions for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are golden brown and caramelized.
  3. Add the beef broth and white vinegar to the onions. Stir well and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and mix in the fresh thyme leaves. Let the mixture cool slightly.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Unroll the crescent roll dough and cut it into squares.
  7. Place a spoonful of the onion mixture and a bit of Gruyère cheese in the center of each square.
  8. Fold the corners of the dough over the filling to create small bites and seal them.
  9. Place the bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Notes

Let the onion mixture cool before filling the dough to prevent sogginess. Feel free to adjust the cheese to your liking.
