Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1 30-32 oz bag frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter (melted for greasing or drizzling on top)
- Optional garnish: chopped green onions or parsley
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage until fully cooked and drain any excess fat.
- Reduce the heat to low, stir in the softened cream cheese until melted, and set aside.
- Spread the thawed hash browns evenly in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle with melted butter and lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Spoon the creamy sausage mixture evenly over the hash browns.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the sausage layer.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over all the layers and gently tap the dish to settle ingredients.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, until eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing and garnish if desired.
Notes
Customize with sautéed veggies or different cheese blends for added flavor. Store leftovers in the refrigerator or freeze for later use.
