Ingredients
- 1 standing rib roast (prime rib), 5–6 lbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme, parsley)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Rub the standing rib roast with olive oil.
- In a bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, and fresh herbs; spread the mixture evenly over the roast.
- Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Place the roast in a roasting pan, bone side down.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue cooking to desired doneness, about 1.5 to 2 hours for medium-rare.
- Let the roast rest for 20 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
- Serve and enjoy your ultra-tender prime rib!
Notes
Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. Aim for 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3 days or frozen for up to 6 months.
