Description

Luxurious pan-seared scallops with a rich lemon brown butter sauce, perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself to a gourmet meal at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large sea scallops (dry-packed preferred)
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the scallops dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  3. Carefully place the scallops in the skillet and sear for about 2-3 minutes on one side without moving.
  4. Flip the scallops and sear for an additional 2-3 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Remove the scallops from the skillet and set aside.
  6. In the same skillet, add the unsalted butter and allow it to melt and turn slightly brown.
  7. Add the lemon juice and stir to combine.
  8. Return the scallops to the skillet, gently coating them in the lemon brown butter mixture.
  9. Plate the scallops, spooning any remaining sauce over the top and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

Notes

For the best results, use dry-packed scallops and avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure a good sear.
