Description

A delightful dessert that combines the comforting flavors of bread, vanilla, and spices into a rich and creamy bread pudding.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread, cubed
  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup of raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/4 cup of bourbon or rum (optional)
  • Butter (for greasing the pan)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes with milk and heavy cream; let it soak for about 30 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Slowly mix the egg mixture into the bread mixture, adding in raisins or chocolate chips and bourbon or rum if desired.
  5. Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish.
  6. Bake for 45–55 minutes or until set and golden on top.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, possibly with a drizzle of caramel sauce or whipped cream.

Notes

Use day-old bread for better absorption. Allow the bread to soak long enough to saturate. Let it cool slightly for cleaner slices.
