Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- Powdered sugar for coating
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix sugar and melted butter until combined. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until fully combined.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough into balls, then coat each ball generously in powdered sugar.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough to prevent cookies from spreading. Use gloves when handling red food coloring.
