Description

Delightful quark oat fritters that are easy to prepare and provide a wonderful blend of flavors. Perfect as a snack, breakfast, or light dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup quark
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk or water
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the quark, egg, sugar, milk or water, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir until just combined; the batter will be thick.
  4. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. When the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the skillet. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  7. Cook the fritters for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve warm with toppings like fresh fruit, maple syrup, or powdered sugar.

Notes

Use fresh quark and check expiration dates for other ingredients. Don’t overmix the batter for light fritters.
