A crowd-pleasing casserole that transforms classic French toast into a delectable dish, perfect for fall gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of bread (such as challah or brioche)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Cut the bread into cubes and place them in the prepared baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
