Description
A classic French dish featuring flaky puff pastry filled with ham and Gruyère cheese, topped with a sunny-side-up egg.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 2 slices of ham
- 1 slice of Gruyère cheese
- 1 egg
- Butter for frying
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into a rectangle.
- Place a slice of ham and Gruyère cheese on one half of the pastry.
- Fold the other half over to cover the filling and seal the edges.
- Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- In a skillet, melt butter and fry the egg sunny-side up.
- Once the pastry is cooked, place the fried egg on top, season with salt and pepper, and serve immediately.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh. Experiment with different cheeses and add fresh herbs for added flavor.
