Description

A comforting meal combining hearty Italian sausage, creamy cheese, and pasta in one easy-to-make pot.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound hot Italian sausage
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups uncooked medium shells
  • 8 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • Salt & pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Brown the sausage and onions in a large pot over medium heat for 7-10 minutes, or until the sausage is no longer pink and the onions are translucent.
  2. Stir in the tomato paste, garlic powder, and oregano. Mix well to combine.
  3. Add the beef broth and heavy cream to the pot and bring to a boil.
  4. Stir in the uncooked shells, then lower the heat and let it simmer for 12-13 minutes, or until the pasta is tender.
  5. Incorporate the cubed Velveeta cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
  6. Allow the dish to rest for a few minutes before serving to thicken and cool slightly.

Notes

Use quality sausage for better flavor; you can also adjust the creaminess by adding more heavy cream if desired.
