Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- Cooked rice or chow mein for serving
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken strips to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add minced ginger and garlic, sautéing for about a minute until fragrant.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, pour the sauce over, and stir to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Toss in the chopped green onions and mix thoroughly.
- Serve the Mongolian Chicken hot over a bed of rice or chow mein.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in soy sauce and ginger for about 30 minutes before cooking.
