Description

A delightful dish featuring tender chicken in a sweet and savory sauce, perfect for quick weeknight meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • Cooked rice or chow mein for serving

Instructions

  1. Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken strips to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add minced ginger and garlic, sautéing for about a minute until fragrant.
  5. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
  6. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, pour the sauce over, and stir to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Toss in the chopped green onions and mix thoroughly.
  8. Serve the Mongolian Chicken hot over a bed of rice or chow mein.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in soy sauce and ginger for about 30 minutes before cooking.
