Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, mix the cranberries with 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar and set aside.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and the remaining sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the cranberries and nuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
