Description

A delightful soft and airy cake that’s perfect for celebrations or enjoying with a cup of tea, made with simple ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 150 grams (1 ½ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 100 ml (½ cup) water
  • 100 ml (½ cup) milk
  • 80 grams (⅓ cup) butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 500 ml (2 cups) milk
  • 150 grams (¾ cup) sugar
  • 100 grams (1 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 180 grams (¾ cup) butter
  • Icing sugar or your favorite garnish


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy, and then add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture, alternating with the milk and water, until smooth.
  4. For the cream filling, combine remaining milk, sugar, and flour in a pot and cook over medium heat until thickened. Stir in butter until melted, then cool.
  5. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake pan.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the pan and bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool, add cream filling, then pour remaining batter over it and bake for another 20 minutes.
  8. Let cool completely and dust with icing sugar before serving.

Notes

Make sure to use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter and do not overmix to prevent density.
