Description
A delightful twist on traditional jam that blends the tropical sweetness of ripe mangoes with the subtle heat of chili peppers.
Ingredients
- 4 cups ripe mango, peeled and finely diced
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1–2 red chili peppers (or Fresno peppers), finely minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 tablespoon lime zest
- 1 packet (1.75 oz) powdered fruit pectin
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the diced mango, sugar, minced chili peppers, lime juice, and lime zest.
- Stir the ingredients well and let them sit for about 5 minutes.
- Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil, stirring frequently.
- Once boiling, stir in the powdered fruit pectin and boil for 10–15 minutes, stirring often until thickened.
- Skim any foam from the surface.
- To check if the jam is ready, place a spoonful on a chilled plate; it should wrinkle slightly when pushed.
- Remove from heat, allow to cool slightly, then transfer to clean jars.
Notes
Ensure your jars are properly sterilized for safety. You can adjust the spice level by modifying the number of chili peppers used.
