A savory and tender pulled pork dish cooked in a slow cooker, featuring a rich blend of Asian flavors.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds Pork Shoulder/Butt Roast
- 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
- 1/4 cup Rice Vinegar
- 1/4 cup Honey
- 1/4 cup Hoisin Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Sesame Oil
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha/Chili Garlic Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon White Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
- 1/4 cup Water
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder or butt roast.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, fresh ginger, Sriracha, and white pepper.
- Place the pork in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it, ensuring the meat is well coated.
- Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 8 hours or high for about 4 hours.
- Once cooked, remove the pork and shred it using two forks.
- Strain the sauce into a saucepan, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then stir this into the sauce and heat until thickened.
- Toss shredded pork in the thickened sauce and serve.
Notes
Allow the shredded meat to rest in the sauce for enhanced flavor absorption. Experiment with your favorite spices and adjust to taste.
