Description
A delightful Hawaiian dish featuring chicken marinated in a sweet and tangy sauce, perfect for barbecues or family dinners.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken thighs (boneless, skinless preferred)
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup chicken broth (or water)
- ¼ cup pineapple juice
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Optional: green onions, sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, chicken broth, pineapple juice, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Stir until the brown sugar is fully dissolved.
- Place the chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the chicken. Seal tightly or cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight for the best flavor.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and reserve the marinade for basting.
- Grill the chicken thighs for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). Baste with reserved marinade during the last few minutes of grilling for extra flavor.
- Once cooked, remove from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot!
Notes
For best flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. You can also boil the leftover marinade for a few minutes to use it as a sauce.
