Description

Delightful cookies combining the classic flavors of red velvet with a chocolate kiss on top, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 7 tbsp butter (salted or unsalted, softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp red food coloring gel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey’s chocolate kisses


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set it aside.
  2. In a stand mixer, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the mixture. Mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix until the dough forms.
  5. Using a tablespoon, scoop out equal portions of cookie dough and roll them into balls, then coat in red sanding sugar.
  6. Place the cookie balls on the prepared baking sheet with space between each.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes, then immediately press a Hershey kiss into the center of each cookie.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for best results. Avoid overmixing after adding flour.
