Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound sausage
  • 1 pound Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 package cocktail rye bread
  • Mustard (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and sausage over medium heat until fully cooked; drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion and sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in the Velveeta cheese until melted and well combined.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Spread the mixture onto the cocktail rye bread slices.
  6. Place the topped bread on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with mustard on the side.

Notes

For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or use spicy sausage. Substitute Velveeta with cheddar or pepper jack for a different flavor.
