Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound sausage
- 1 pound Velveeta cheese, cubed
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1 package cocktail rye bread
- Mustard (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and sausage over medium heat until fully cooked; drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and sauté until soft.
- Stir in the Velveeta cheese until melted and well combined.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread the mixture onto the cocktail rye bread slices.
- Place the topped bread on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese is bubbly.
- Serve warm, optionally with mustard on the side.
Notes
For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or use spicy sausage. Substitute Velveeta with cheddar or pepper jack for a different flavor.
