Ingredients
- 2 cups diced ham
- 4 cups sliced potatoes
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the flour to make a roux, stirring for about a minute until golden.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cream, and heat until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the ham, and sprinkle half of the cheese.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the layers. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
