A quick and easy creamy pasta dish featuring ground turkey, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces Penne Pasta
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 medium Yellow Onion
- 1 pound Ground Turkey
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons All-purpose Flour
- 1 cup Chicken Broth
- 1 cup Tomato Sauce
- ½ cup Half-and-half
- 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 cup Cheddar Cheese
- ¼ cup Fresh Parsley
- 1 teaspoon Red Chili Flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions, drain, and set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped yellow onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes.
- Add the ground turkey to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir well, cooking for another minute.
- Gradually add the chicken broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Then pour in the tomato sauce and half-and-half, stirring until well mixed.
- Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Mix in the cooked penne pasta, mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese until melted and combined.
- Serve hot, topped with fresh parsley and optional red chili flakes.
Notes
For extra creaminess, add more half-and-half or cream. Experiment with different cheeses for a unique flavor.
