Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar until creamy. Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough into balls, then roll the balls in powdered sugar until fully coated.
- Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, spaced apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, until crinkled and set. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Dust the cookies with powdered sugar just before serving for a beautiful presentation. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
