Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 ¾ cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil (for topping)
- 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
- ½ teaspoon salt (for topping)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
- Additional olive oil for greasing
- Flaky sea salt for sprinkling
- Fresh parsley or herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Stir in the olive oil and warm water until a sticky dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil. Transfer the dough to the pan and gently stretch it to the edges. Let it rest for another 30 minutes.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the olive oil and add the minced garlic and a pinch of salt, cooking until fragrant. Remove from heat.
- Press deep dimples into the dough and drizzle the garlic oil over it. Sprinkle with Parmesan, fresh herbs if using, and flaky sea salt.
- Bake in a preheated 425°F (220°C) oven for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
Notes
For added flavor, try using high-quality extra virgin olive oil and experiment with toppings like olives or cherry tomatoes.
