Description

A delicious twist on a classic dish, combining savory caramelized onions with traditional meatloaf for a rich and comforting taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 2 cups caramelized onions
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as Swiss or Gruyère)
  • ¼ cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, caramelized onions, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf.
  4. Pour the beef broth over the top and bake for 1 hour.
  5. During the last 10 minutes, sprinkle shredded cheese on top and return to the oven until melted and bubbly.
  6. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your savory meatloaf!

Notes

Use deep golden caramelized onions for the best flavor. Resting time after baking helps the meatloaf hold its shape.
