Description

A delightful twist on the classic holiday treat, combining rich eggnog flavors and festive spices, topped with a crunchy crumb topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted, for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the softened butter, eggnog, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. If you’re adding nuts, stir them in at this point.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, 1/4 cup of flour, melted butter, and cinnamon to create the crumb topping.
  7. Sprinkle the crumb mixture generously over the batter in the pan.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Slice and enjoy your festive Eggnog Bread!

Notes

For an extra touch of sweetness, drizzle a powdered sugar glaze over the cooled bread.
