Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well until combined.
- Combine wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring to form a dough.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover it and let rise in a warm spot for approximately one hour.
- Once risen, roll out to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut into squares.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry beignets in batches for 1–2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Use fresh yeast for the best rise and monitor oil temperature carefully.
