Description

Delicious and uncomplicated Easy Soy Garlic Chicken Thighs with a savory soy garlic sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp potato starch
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp neutral oil for pan frying
  • 8 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 2 stalks green onion (green and white parts separated)
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock (or substitute with water and chicken bouillon)
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Green onion (green part) for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine chicken stock, honey, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Pat the chicken thighs dry and mix potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper on a plate. Lightly coat each chicken thigh.
  3. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat, add chicken thighs, and fry until golden brown, about 7 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add minced garlic, white parts of green onion, and red chili flakes to the same pan. Sauté for about 3 minutes until garlic is golden brown.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce into the pan and cook for about 1 minute until it thickens. Return chicken to the pan and coat with sauce, cooking for an additional 5 minutes until fully cooked.
  6. Serve with steamed rice and fresh vegetables.

Notes

Rest the chicken before cooking for juicier meat. Monitor oil temperature to ensure crisp frying.
