Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat together the sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let the cake cool slightly, then flip it onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.
- Roll the cake with the towel while it’s still warm and let it cool completely.
- For the filling, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Unroll the cooled cake, spread the whipped cream evenly, and roll it back up without the towel.
- Place the log seam side down on a serving plate.
- Frost the log with chocolate ganache and use a fork to create bark patterns.
- Chill before serving and enjoy your festive dessert!
Notes
Use room temperature eggs and milk for a smoother batter. Dust the towel with powdered sugar to prevent sticking when rolling the cake. Let the cake cool completely before adding the filling to avoid melting the cream.
