Description

Delightful and festive Spritz cookies that are easy to make and perfect for sharing during the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 stick margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. In an electric mixer, combine the softened unsalted butter and margarine until fluffy.
  2. Add the sugar 1/2 cup at a time, alternating with the eggs.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture by hand, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  6. Chill the dough for about 15 minutes.
  7. Chill your baking pan for 15 minutes in the fridge.
  8. Load your Spritz Cookie Press according to the instructions.
  9. If the dough is too soft, chill it longer; if too stiff, let it sit out for a while.
  10. Press the cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  11. Add sprinkles or sanding sugar if desired.
  12. Bake at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to three months.
