Delicious buns filled with a spicy, creamy chicken mixture, perfect for gatherings or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- ½ cup spicy sauce (like buffalo or sriracha)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella)
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the shredded chicken with the spicy sauce, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Set this spicy chicken mixture aside.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the melted butter and milk to form a soft dough.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into rounds, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture on each dough round and sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal each bun tightly.
- Place the buns on a greased baking sheet and brush them with the beaten egg for a beautiful golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and cooked through.
- Let them cool slightly before serving to avoid burning your mouth!
Notes
Can use raw chicken seasoned and cooked before shredding. Try different cheeses for varied flavors. Buns can be prepared in advance.
