A simple and flavorful dish made with chicken thighs simmered in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, perfect for busy days.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs chicken thighs or breasts
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)
- Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper.
- Place the chicken in the crockpot and pour the honey garlic mixture over it.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Once done, remove the chicken and shred it.
- Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then stir it into the sauce in the crockpot to thicken.
- Return the shredded chicken to the sauce, mix well, and serve over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with green onions.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the honey garlic mixture for a few hours before cooking. Adjust sweetness by using less honey if preferred.
