Crispy Reuben Balls are a fun twist on the classic Reuben sandwich, perfect for appetizers and snacks. These bite-sized treats offer a delicious combination of flavors in each crunchy bite.
Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded cooked corned beef
- 1 cup drained, chopped sauerkraut
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup softened cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, cream cheese, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in size.
- Roll each ball in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat in breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the balls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
Notes
For easier shaping, chill the mixture for about 30 minutes. Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch, and always test the oil temperature before frying.
