Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
- 4 oz sliced ham (or smoked turkey for a lighter option)
- 4 oz shredded cheese (cheddar, gouda, or your favorite)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (such as parsley or chives, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry until it’s about ¼-inch thick.
- Cut the pastry into squares or rectangles, about 4×4 inches.
- Place a slice of ham in the center of each pastry square.
- Add a generous sprinkle of shredded cheese on top of the ham.
- If using mustard, spread a thin layer over the ham before adding the cheese.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Fold the corners of the pastry square over the filling and pinch to create a pocket.
- Place filled pastry stacks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
