Ingredients
- 2.5 cups Homemade (or store-bought) buttermilk
- 4 cups Thinly sliced onions, halved and in rings
- 3 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp Fresh ground pepper
- 4 cups Vegetable oil
Instructions
- Soak thinly sliced onion rings in buttermilk for at least 10 minutes.
- In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and fresh ground pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or deep-skillet to about 375°F.
- Dredge soaked onions in the flour mixture, coating them evenly.
- Fry the coated onions in small batches until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove fried onions from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Store in an airtight container or serve immediately.
