Description

Classic sugar cookies are a beloved treat, perfect for any occasion with their delightful sweetness and simple flavors.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set it aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until it’s smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until the dough is formed.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, then roll the balls in the 3/4 cup of sugar.
  7. Place the sugar-coated balls on ungreased cookie sheets about 1.5 inches apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cookies are golden on the edges.
  9. Let the cookies cool on wire racks.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature and consider chilling the dough if it is too soft to handle.
