Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the flour and whisk to form a paste.
- Gradually pour in the heavy cream, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens.
- Add the salt, pepper, and nutmeg, stirring until combined.
- Incorporate the sliced potatoes into the sauce, ensuring they are adequately coated.
- Transfer the potatoes and sauce to a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes.
- After 60 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over the top of the potatoes.
- Return to the oven, uncovered, for an additional 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
