Description

Delightful homemade Christmas sugar cookies inspired by the popular Crumbl cookies, perfect for any festive occasion.

Ingredients

  • 270 g (2¼ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 4 g (1 tsp) baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 170 g (1½ sticks / ¾ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 54 g (⅓ cup) Christmas jimmies sprinkles
  • 283 g (1¼ bricks / 10 oz) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 184 g (13 Tbsp) salted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 150 g (1¼ cups) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 80 ml (⅓ cup) heavy cream, very cold
  • 24 g (2 Tbsp) Christmas sprinkles (jimmies, nonpareils, trees, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line 2-3 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a stand mixer, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Beat until well combined, about 30 seconds.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Fold in the Christmas jimmies sprinkles until evenly distributed.
  7. Using a cookie scoop, portion the dough into balls and place them on the baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Slightly flatten each ball with your fingers or a glass.
  9. Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are set and tops are soft and no longer glossy.
  10. Rotate a cookie cutter around each cookie to shape them into circles.
  11. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and salted butter until smooth.
  13. Add vanilla extract and salt, then gradually mix in the powdered sugar.
  14. Drizzle in heavy cream while whisking until stiff peaks form.
  15. Pipe frosting on cookies and decorate with additional sprinkles.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the best texture. Do not overmix the dough.
