Ingredients
- 8 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup rum
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup cocoa powder or chopped nuts for rolling
Instructions
- Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just starts to simmer.
- Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for a minute; then stir until smooth.
- Stir in the rum and vanilla extract.
- Refrigerate the mixture for about 120 minutes until firm.
- Once firm, scoop out small amounts and roll into balls.
- Roll the truffles in cocoa powder or chopped nuts to coat.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to gift.
Notes
Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor. Experiment with different coatings like coconut or sprinkles for added texture.
