Description

A festive and colorful dessert combining cake with layers of Jello and Cool Whip, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix plus ingredients
  • 3 oz box lime Jello
  • 3 oz box cherry Jello
  • 8 oz Cool Whip, thawed
  • Red and green sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare white cake according to package directions, ensuring all ingredients are properly measured.
  2. Pour cake batter into a thoroughly greased 9×13 baking pan, spreading evenly.
  3. Bake cake following package time and temperature instructions until a toothpick comes clean.
  4. Allow cake to cool for approximately 20 minutes until just warm to the touch.
  5. Create evenly spaced holes throughout the entire cake surface using a straw or wooden spoon handle.
  6. Prepare lime Jello using 1 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cold water, stirring until crystals dissolve.
  7. Prepare cherry Jello using the same modified water measurements as lime Jello.
  8. Carefully pour green Jello over one half of the cake, ensuring the liquid fills holes.
  9. Pour red Jello over the remaining cake half, again filling holes completely.
  10. Refrigerate the cake for a minimum of 6 hours or overnight to allow Jello to set properly.
  11. Remove from refrigerator and spread thawed Cool Whip evenly across the entire surface.
  12. Decorate the top with red and green sprinkles in a festive pattern.
  13. Return to the refrigerator until ready to serve. Cut into squares when serving, wiping the knife between cuts.
  14. Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator.

Notes

For a smoother finish, use a spatula to spread the Cool Whip evenly over the surface. You can experiment with different Jello flavors.
